Mercer,

more than a brand, a journey.

Mercer was born in a small cafe on Mercer Street, in New York, that´s where the name of my business comes from, not a word chosen at random, but a place where I experienced a moment of absolute clarity about myself. It was there, amidst the city’s creative pulse, that I experienced a true shift in my life. It was in that precise moment and place that I chose to follow my intuition: my desire to build this project was finally much greater than my fear of failing. That realization changed everything, and I chose to turn my ideas into action.

I was told it did not make sense to start this business, I was advised to focus only on my established career as an attorney and University professor, but that moment, at this place, was a turning point, it was just me and my desire. As a lawyer, I had always valued structure and precision, but deep down, I didn’t want to choose, instead, I chose to embrace my complexity. I knew it was time to embrace a new and parallel path. I realized that my professional discipline, my love for reading, my passion for stationery and meaningful design, were not separate paths but parts of the same whole. Mercer is the result of that realization, the intersection of these different facets, and the courage to honor all the different versions of myself. 

Behind the scenes, lies a reality that often stays hidden: late nights between legal documents and University lectures, the doubts of starting something new in a foreign land, the stress regarding everything involved in setting up and running a business, and the quiet fear that comes with choosing passion over comfort. People often ask me: why to start a business when you already have a career? The truth is: Mercer isn’t just about beautiful stationery and lifestyle pieces, it’s about the courage to honor the different versions of ourselves. It´s for those who know that you don’t have to choose between being professional and being creative, you can be both.

Today, based in Florence, Mercer is my personal curation of design, a space where beauty meets purpose. I search for unique pieces from the US, UK, France, Spain, Denmark, Japan, Australia, selecting and bringing to Italy only what resonates with an authentic sense of style, quality, and functionality, but also a clear sense of soul.

Mercer is a tribute to those who dare to listen their own shift, to those who follow their intuition -even when the path is not the most obvious one- and decide to turn their ideas into action.
